Fun and Messy Times!

I've been a DIRTY baby lately. Mah and Pappy dug up the front yard this weekend. They are putting in a "garden" but it looks like a lot of mulch and a few teeny-tiny bushes (shorter than me) out there. Oh well. If they grow like me, they'll be huge soon!

I liked playing in the dirt. I even got to play with a neat-o wormy. He was long and slimy. I thought he was neat. Almost as neat as my new friends: Gnomee and Lincoln. Gnomee has to live outside because he is mischievous but Lincoln gets to live inside, on the mantle.

Oh, speaking of dirty..... I (ooops) two-eed in the tubby last night... and the floor too. Ooops! Oh well, I may be a bit grubby but it's all clean fun!

Oh.... I'm tossing in two fun videos.... me getting really messy eating gluten-free noodles AND me pushing my walker. Fun!

Great-Grandmas, Cousins, Trains.... fun!

Hi. I just got back from a fun-filled trip to the greater St. Louis metro area. What an awesome time. I took a nice train ride on Wednesday. It took me from KC to Kirkwood, MO. Kirkwood is between St. Charles and St. Louis. Grandma Pat picked me up. She brought along my Aunt Janet and my cousins, Charlie, Madeline, and Lucy. Yay! I had so much fun playing with my cousins. I also got to see Grandpa, Uncle Courtney and Uncle Mitch, Aunt MaryBeth, and cousins Adam and Abby.

Did you know that all of my cousins have dogs? They do. Adam and Abby have Penny and C/M/L have Annie. I just LOVE dogs. They are slobbery and fun. Dahdahdah!

Saturday was a really special day. My great-grandma, Bern, had her 93rd birthday party. All the family was there, even Fr. Dave from Korea. It was so fun playing with everyone.

Well, here are some of the fun moments from my trip. I'm tuckered out so I'm signing off now.... I'll update you on more stuff soon!

Fun (not in the sun)!

Oooo oooo ooo... it's hot here! I've been keeping cool by playing piano in the house AND by taking a trip to the mall. Yeeks! The place was packed. I got to ride on a pretty carousel. It didn't play Carpenter's songs but that's okay. It was still fun. It's late! I'd better get to bed!

It's August and It's HOT!!!!

Howdy folks! Brooklyn's Bloggy Baby is officially living in Kansas City now. I'm not sure if everything is "up to date" here (they are going to repeal the light rail bill) BUT...I'm here so the city is moving up in coolness now.

Here are the big changes lately:

- I moved. I miss my friends a ton.
- I am now sleeping in my own room in a crib. Yeeks. I know, I'm proud of myself too.
- I have 8 teeth. Yes, the middle front teeth finally grew in. I no longer look like a vampire. Watch out though... I like to bite. Seriously. Mah and Pappy need to buy me a real toothbrush now. I bit Mah REALLY hard the last two times she tried to brush my teeth with the "finger brush". Sorry Mah!
- I love to sing and play piano. I play my little piano and Mah and Pappy's big piano.

- My very favorite book is Little Gorilla. It makes me happier than just about anything.

It is very very hot here. I went swimming in the big pool last week but it is too hot to even swim now. Yeeks baby 99!

Hey, did you hear about my friends in Brooklyn? There was a tornado in BayRidge and Sunset Park. Wowzer. My buddies Cali, Max, and Elsie live there. Hey, I'm the one living in "tornado alley". What's the deal?

Cousin Lola is on vacation with Grammy and Grampy and now she is heading out to see her "Uncle Grampa" otherwise known as "Peepaw".... Tio Matteo's dad. She also gets to see her Uncle Joe... who happens to be our age. Heeheehee!

I'm taking off next week on the train to see Grandma and Grandpa Pfeiffer in St. Charles. I haven't seen my cousins since December. I can't wait!

Well.... that's about it for now. Missing you all. Big smoochies.

What a month can do!

Okay okay.... it's been one month since I last blogged. What a month it's been!

Here's the 411:

1. Mah, Pappy, and I flew to KC and bought a house. Yay! We move at the end of June. I am going to miss Brooklyn and my baby friends but I am so excited to be closer to my Lola. And.... I get to have a kiddie pool!

2. I have top teeth! I just cut my second top tooth today.

3. I can crawl... kinda. I crawl backwards very fast and forwards very slowly.

4. I am eating all kinds of cool foods AND I have learned to drink from a straw. Not just pipetted stuff, but I actually can pull water and milky up by myself. I know, I'm awesome!

I've only scratched the surface. Gotta run.... there's a gator loose in the neighborhood that needs taming. Move over Bindi Erwin, here comes Pean Louise... Brooklyn's Bloggy Baby and Gator Hunter!

Party Time!

Sorry I haven't blogged lately. It's been crazy party time. I've been singing, dancing, getting up on my hands and knees, and going to birthday parties. Fun! Oh, and BTW, I've figured out how to play peek-a-boo!

Round And Round I Go!

Oh what fun I've had lately! The weather has been pretty and I have lived outside. Yesterday I played on the swings at JJ Byrne Park and today.... boy... let me tell you about today. Today I went back to the zoo. BUT... before I went in the zoo I rode on the carousel!!!! OMGosh, it was awesome. Mah got dizzy but not me, I held on tight and rode a very pretty giraffe. Oh, do you remember that alpaca that tried to eat my face? Well... it's still there. Today it tried to eat both my hands. Don't worry though. I showed that alpaca. I grabbed the hair on her head and pulled it. It was fluffy. Perhaps I will someday learn to knit, then I will make an alpaca sweater. Hah!

Darling alpaca,
You tried to eat my fingers
But I still have ten.

Dance to the music!

I've had fun the past two days. I learned a new trick... I now know how to spin the rolly-dealie on top of my bus and on my tiny piano. I like to spin it while listening to music. I can add my spinny percussion sound. Yay!

Speaking of music, I got to hear some lovely music today. I was walking home from the store when I heard a wonderful sound... a man was playing the accordion. He sang a special song for me! (maybe 'cause Mah gave him a dollar!)

Accordion man!
I think you need a monkey.
You should call Lola!

I'm stuck inside and ANGRY!

Okay, what's the deal folks? It was bright and sunny for a few days. I got to go outside with no socks and no pants. I loved it! See this picture? That's me on Monday. Well... today was rainy and cool. It thundered. Guess what? Thunder scares Mrs. Peepers but it doesn't scare me. It does make me a little angry though. I like being outside. If I have to stay inside I'm gonna let my whompwhomps out!

Thursday, April 26, 2007

Awwwwwughhhhoooo!

Mahmee took this movie of me singing this morning. I really like to sing. I do it all the time BUT I like to sing the loudest from about 6 to 9 am!

Listen to me sing
I join with the songs of birds
But I'm my own flock!

I drool.... I like cats

Well, I drool. I like cats. That about sums me up!

Swingin' like the sakura blossoms

Grammy T-Mac wanted me to post some of my pictures of the pretty pretty cherry trees. So... here they are! You can also see a movie of me swinging. Now, Mah was silly and took the video with her still camera turned a funny way. Silly Mahmee.... you can't make a video flipflip like a picture! Don't get a neck cramp folks!

Oops!

Oh what sweet, nice weather we've been having here lately. I have spent more time outside than in. I spent Sunday in Central Park, Monday in Prospect Park, and today at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. The Sakura festival is this coming weekend and all the trees on the Cherry Esplanade were in bloom. I saw pink, red, and white cherry blossoms. They might be the prettiest things I've ever seen!

I met some of my friends at the BBG. Our mommies ate lunch and later we got to play under the trees. I had fun BUT there were two big oopsies. First, Maxie-pooh was getting his diapie changed. He must have liked cool breeze 'cause.... oops! He made a fountain. I can't do that. Mah says that's cause he's a boy. His peepee got really close to me. All the mommies gasped and I started to cry. Pee fountains are scary!

And, now on to oops number two. It's the worst oops of all-time. I was sitting and playing. Sweet Daphne was laying, playing in front of me. A strong breeze blew and (yes... a breeze can knock over little me) I fell.... smack.... right on top of poor Daphne. Ohhhhhh, it was so sad. She cried and cried. I felt sad for her and cried too. Oh, it just breaks my baby heart. I think she's okay now. Poor Daphne.

Well, don't worry too much. We babies are tough!

Watch out lil' Daphne!
Above you, it's me, Louise.
Is that a hard hat?

I'm trying to earn my keep

Now that I'm eating real food, Mah says that I need to start earning my keep. I used to think she was joking... until today. She took me into Manhattan for something called a "casting call". From what I can tell it is similar to a visit to my vet. There are lots of other babies, I take my clothes off, and people look at me. Somebody said something about a "headshot". I got scared 'cause I already got enough shots for this week. But... it ends up that it's a kind of picture. Some babies came with them. Now that is officially WACK!

I had lots of fun though. Some of my peeps came along. Annabelle, Max, Baila, and I got our pictures taken and then accompanied our moms out for lunch. I wanted to try some of Mah's food but she said that Indian food was too spicy. I'd rather be the judge of that myself. Bah-Goo! I think I can say the name of one Indian dish, aloogobi. Ahhhhoooooguuubuh!

Baby casting call:
Toss in your net and catch one.
We all are too cute!

Poor Sludgie... I wanted to be his friend

Mah says that there are sad things in the news this week. She isn't giving me many details but she and Pappy seem sad. I know what I am sad about. It's Sludgie. Sludgie was a sweet baby whale. He was trying to come and visit me by swimming up the Gowanus canal. Now, I may be a baby but even I know that it's not a good idea to swim in the Gowanus. He should have just texted me and I would have taken the B train to Coney Island to visit him. Poor Sludgie.

Well, time to get my beauty sleep. Tomorrow is my casting call. Hugs and kisses!

Poor Sludgie the whale
the Gowanus is dirty.
It's no love canal.

So much to tell you!

So sorry that I haven't posted in a while. I've been one busy baby. My very very first toothie finally came in on Good Friday. Oooo, it hurt a lot but I sure am proud of it.

I flew back to NYC on Saturday and had a fun Easter with Mah and Pappy. The weather was dreary but I was bright and sunny in my special yellow dress. People at church and at brunch kept ooooing and ahhhing over me. A waitress said that she wanted to kidnap me and take me home with her. Yeeks! No thank you!

My number two toothie came in last Friday. So now I don't just have tooth but TEETH! Cool! I love to suck on my teeth, touch my teeth, and lick my teeth. Mah says I look like an ol' granny with her dentures out (not that either of my Grannies have dentures cause THEY DON'T!).

Today I went to the "vet". I got shots. Ow! I was very brave and cheery though. I smiled and laughed at Dr. Dehovitz and only cried for half-a-second. They told Mah that I was big and healthy. I now weigh 20lbs, 3oz and I am 27 1/2 inches long. Wowzer. That makes me bigger than over 95% of babies my age. Mah said that I did such a good job at the vet's that she'd buy me a special treat. I picked out these cool sunglasses. I know, I know, I'm somethin' else!

I'm loving all my yummy dinner food. I even tried a neato grain last night: millet. It is kinda like oatmeal but crunchier. (Aunt Janet, check out the millet article... it's gluten free!) I really liked squash too. Mmmm, squashy.

Guess what... Mah may try and make me famous. There is a casting call for baby models on Thursday. It is for a magazine ad. I'm going to go with my friends Annabelle and Baila. We are trying to get Max to come too. Wish me luck!

Models aren't just girls
who are way way too skinny.
Big is beautiful!

No, no, no... not Gina (and btw, I'm in Michigan)

Well howdy folks! I'm enjoying life as a country kid this week here in beautiful Michigan. It's so much fun to play with Grammy, Grampy, Aunt Kelly, but especially my cousin, Lola. She is just so cute! (and little... I have to be careful that I don't squash her)
I went to Lake Michigan yesterday. I liked to put my little toesies in the sand. It was sunny and pretty out. Mah was taking my picture while I sat in the sand BUT... ooops... I fell over... right on my face. Icky, icky sand was everywhere. Blahhhhh. I still had fun though!

Today was cold and it actually snowed. Yeeks! I'm a big Brooklyn girl though so that didn't keep me in. I took a nice walk downtown. Fun!

I really miss my Pappy though. Michigan is fun but I need to go home soon. My Pappy and my kitties need me and I need them.

Pappy is alone
with two crazy kitty cats.
My poor, poor Pappy.

Still no tooth yet...

Okay, what's the deal with the teething thing? I have been chomping away on teething rings for like, weeks now and STILL no teeth! But hey, I keep trying new foods in anticipation of my teeth coming in. This week I tried pears (eeeww, too sweet), kiwi (eeewww, too sour), banana (eeewww, too mushy and sweet), bok choy (mmmm, chewy), avocado (mmm, green), and the best.. oatmeal (mmmm, warm and chunky).

My favorite foods are: sweet potatoes, bok choy, oatmeal, rice cereal, cabbage, sea weed from Mah's miso soup, and avocado.

I ate oatmeal for the first time today. Mah and Pappy went to the Emphasis Diner in Bay Ridge. (Mah works in Bay Ridge sometimes) The waitresses and the owner thought I was the cutest. One of them pinched me. Pappy and Mah took me to the tax place yesterday. One of the tax guys pinched me too. Why do people always pinch me? I don't pinch them.... I may raspberry spit on their faces but I don't PINCH! Maybe I should walk around pinching grownups on their thighs and telling them how much I love all their FAT. See how they like THAT!

My thighs may be fat
But they aren't as fat as yours

Teething is no walk in the park

Yep, no walk in the park (though I took a long one today). Sorry I haven't checked in lately, I've been busy..... teething. In fact, that's why I'm up blogging right now. It's hard to sleep when you've got pain in your mouth.

Besides teething, I've done lots of fun stuff lately. I took a really long walk with Mah and Pappy on Sunday. We met my friend Max and his folks after church. The grownups ate, we napped. I got to see a really wacky house. It's called the "Broken Angel". The city is gonna tear it down soon... something about it being "dangerously against building codes" but I thought it was shiny and neat. I've tried new foods: avocados and pears. I like the avocados okay but the pears make my eyes go down. Sour! I've tried swings in two different playgrounds now. It appears all the baby swings around here are the same style. Hmmm.. what else... that's about it. Oh, you know how I normally sleep all through the night? Well, not this week. My sore mouthie keeps waking me up. I'm hoping to be back to my normal self as soon as the first toothie pops through. Soon!

BTW... I'm too uncomfortable to write my own poem today so Mah is letting me use one that she noticed on the subway today. Let me tell you this... I only WISH I could eat meat off the bone. It might make my gums feel better. Mah thinks this poem might make Grampy misty-eyed (though he might change "feet" to "knees"). We'll see.

A Little Tooth
by Thomas Lux

Your baby grows a tooth, then two,

and four, and five, then she wants some meat

directly from the bone. It's all

over: she'll learn some words, she'll fall

in love with cretins, dolts, a sweet

talker on his way to jail. And you,

your wife, get old, flyblown, and rue

nothing. You did, you loved, your feet

are sore. It's dusk. Your daughter's tall.

I'm just swingin'

Today was a pretty, sunny day. Pappy took me on our Saturday stroll to the Old Stone House. Mah met us there. Then I tried something new, swinging! I swung in a baby swing and then I went down the tiny slide 5 times. Yeeks! 5 times! JJ Byrne Park is a great place for babies. When I got home I put on my Jayhawks jersey. Go Hawks!

Swing, swing peanut baby
Swing, swing peanut baby
Push, pull with Pap, Pap, Pap!

(Pean' Louise luckily went to bed before the 'Hawks sad loss to UCLA.... better luck next year Peanie!)

I'm a big, brave girl

Today was a special day for me. I became a big girl. Today was the first time I ever stayed with a babysitter in my whole life. Pappy went to work in Manhattan this morning and Mah went to work at big kid school. My friend, Rhonda, played with me all day. We went to the library, sang songs, played with toys, and read books. Rhonda is very very sweet. She is from Guyana. I have never been there but she says it's hot. I don't understand "hot". For Pete's sake, I've haven't had a Summer yet! I will see Rhonda next Monday and Friday. Fun!

So, "Big girls don't cry"
but I may have a few times.
Mah and Pappy left.

Brainy Babies Love Books

Today was a chilly, windy day. I was antsy being cooped up inside so Mah took me to the library. There were lots of kids there. I watched two preschoolers argue over a book. I've never seen that before. It sort of made me sad... but it was interesting! (BTW, they finally decided to read the book together)

Two kids were fighting:
"I want it!" "No, I do".
Sharing looks like work!

Chew on this...

The teething thing is really getting to me this week. Wooo-ooo. Ow. I've been chewing on everything: hands, mom's hands, toys, books, and... cucumbers! Yep, Mah has let me chew on all sorts of things this week. I've chewed on gluten-free cookies, bok choy, cabbage, apple peels, and cucumber slices. Don't worry! Just like Clinton didn't "inhale" I don't "swallow".

Today was a baby lunch day. My friend, Madeline, cut her first tooth. I am jealous. She'll probably get a tattoo before me too. No fair!

I'm teething - owow
I'm teething - owowowow
Mah used to drive Volare - ohoh
Then Aunt Kelly blew it up - ohohohoh

Grampy's a crazed vet so watch out!

From my grampy:

Dear Louise My Lass:

Interesting isn't it? Here you are an infant and by the developmental book you are supposed to be ego centric. Developmentally you are not yet able to think of anyone but yourself. Because of your age you do not yet have empathy, nor the social relationship skills of understanding and accepting the needs of others that are requirements for a civilized community. Ah but in your case we know those development level skills will come.

Sadly it appears you have chronologically adult neighbors who by their own words have never developed mentally past that infantile ego centric state of life.

Laying in bed mid morning whah whahing about a Little baby?

Gosh, who's the crybaby here?

All the best from your crazed combat veteran grandfather

Grammy's got my back...

Grammy... she's the best

Dearest Louise:

I received your latest blog and I have to say how sad I am for you. I'm having problems answering it directly so I hope your mommy will pass this message on to you. I think we can come up with a plan to counter the negative publicity that you've been receiving unfairly.

I've always been a fan of the underdog ( see season 2 of AI ) and I hate it when good people are unfairly maligned sooooo......... here's my proposed plan:

First have Ma and Pappy take one of your beautiful smiling pictures ( you've got a million of them and you're not even six months old) and have them print - Brooklyn's Happiest Baby Lives Here, have all your apartment mates sign it, laminate that sucker and post it out front for the whole world to see. There's nothing like countering negative publicity with a sense of humor and a dose of snark!
Then have your parents pull out their classic album Free to Be You And Me. Then listen to the sensational song stylist Rosie Greer and his rendition of It's All Right To Cry. What wonderful words to live by. I know that I'm 57 and a far cry(HA HA) from being a baby and a good cry every now and then always makes me feel better. And if you're feeling particularly naughty you can blast that song really loud from your window for one solid hour. How's that mean people?!?
Don't forget sweetheart, all beautiful girls have problems and sometimes they need to get away from big city living. ( I think they call it rehab) In just a few short weeks you can check yourself in here at Casa De' Grammy's for a little R&R. We Love you Sweetie!!

Your BFF - Your Biggest Fan Forever

They are trying to silence me!

Mah and Pappy found a note slipped under our front door today.
It reads like this:
Dear neighbor,

I am writing to let you know that we are becoming increasingly disturbed by your baby's cries. I understand that you have little control over when your baby starts crying. However, it often begins before our alarm goes off on weekday mornings and sometimes lasts for over half and hour. At other times, the sobs begin again mere minutes after a previous bout of crying.

This is beginning to seriously disturb our sleep cycle. We are unable to sleep in on weekends or relax in our bedroom during the afternoon without being disturbed by an unhappy baby. I understand that you are going through the same thing; however, it was not our choice to subject ourselves to having an infant around.

I ask with all due respect to please be considerate of the neighbors as much as possible, particularly before 9am on weekdays and 10am on weekends.

Thanks you,

(unsigned)

Your next door neighbor

Well, what do ya'll think about that? Okay.....

Number 1: I sleep from 8:30pm till 7:30am every day. People DREAM to have a baby like me.
2: Yes, I am a baby and NO, Mah and Pappy DON'T have control over my cries. I cry when I want to. I also sing along to music loudly which can be confused with crying.
3: I only sob when I think of how Sanjaya is still on Idol. Why hasn't he been voted off yet?
4: Who are these trust fund sissies that they can sleep till 9 on weekdays AND be home during the day to be disturbed by me? What grownup "relaxes" in bed during the day?
5: I AM NOT AN UNHAPPY BABY. Mah and Pappy read The Happiest Baby On The Block and I feel I am very happy, thank you.
6: "It was not our choice to subject ourselves to having a baby around".... Well EXCUSE ME FOR LIVING! Ummm, I'm a baby. We are necessary for the propagation of the freakin' species!
7: Most importantly - You live in PARK SLOPE!!!!!! Hello, there are babies and dogs everywhere. If you live here you should expect to hear babies and step in dog crap!

Sooooo.... I (a normally VERY happy baby) am now a very pissy baby. I need your help. Mah and Pappy are too hacked off to compose an adequate response to this person's letter. We are soliciting response letters. You give me your response, I'll post it on the blog. The winning entry will get slipped into the mail slot of the meanie next door.

My cousin the tagger

I was cruising down the street in my Techno XT today when what do I see? A fresh tag on the inside of a newspaper bin. It was at perfect stroller height so I snapped a pic of it. Lola...not even 5 months old and breakin' the law!

My cousin Lola Frances
is a very naughty girl.
She acts just like a monkey

I've tried zoology, now botany

Mah and Pappy think that I may have a career in either dance or politics but I feel that I am meant to be a naturalist. I enjoyed viewing the "fauna" on Monday but on Wednesday I checked out the "flora". Yes, I pulled on the ivy, I looked at the ivy, AND I tasted the ivy. Mmmmm, ivy.

BTW...I've switched to a new internet browser, Firefox. It works much better than stinky old Safari. Yay!

I laugh in the face of danger.... and alpacas!

Soooo, I went to the zoo on Monday. I really liked looking at all the animals. I liked the cow, I liked the sheep. I especially liked the baboons. But.... an animal liked me back. Yep, it almost liked me TOO much. This alpaca tried to eat my cheeks. It swiped me with it's mouth. I didn't cry though. No way.... I LAUGHED! Hahaha!

The big alpaca
tried to bite my chubby cheeks.
Everybody does!

Babies!!!!

Yay, just heard that the 'Hawks are the number one seed in the West after the OT win over Texas for the Big 12 championship today. Cool. I do look awfully nice in my jersey. I can get lots of wear out of it!

Today was my baby baby signing party. Mah showed the other mommies and pappies how to teach us babies how to use sign language. Cool. I would start signing tomorrow but my hands are a little busy in my mouth. Mmmmm, yummy yummy hands.

Okay, here is the baby bonanza picture. From left to right: Adva, Max, Rebecca, ME!, Elsie, Bess, Baila, Daphne, Madeline, and Isabella

I was the oldest baby there (Madeline and Elsie are 3 days younger). Baby Cali, the oldest baby in our crew, was out-of-town.

Ten babies once sat on a couch
A few of them started to grouch
One of them yowled, another few howled
Those ten grumpy kids on the couch.

(just kidding, we had FUN sitting together!)

I'm on a roll... just like the 'Hawks!

Guess what.... I rolled over last night. Heeheehee! I did! Yay! I was laying on my tummy, I pushed up, I rolled over. Woohoo! Isn't that awesome? Okay, so I haven't been able to repeat this feat yet but I will.

So, did you hear that the Jayhawks are ranked second in the nation? It's great. Yesterday was the start of the Big 12 tournament. The 'Hawks play Oklahoma today at 11:30 am CST. Go 'Hawks!

Madness tips off today for Jayhawks

Oklahoma City — Lawrence resident Janice Arneson is relaxing in the first seat of the sixth row of section 118 at the Ford Center, watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers cut their first-half deficit to 30-19 by banking in a running buzzer-beater against Oklahoma State.

Not that she’s paying much attention. After all, she just spotted former Kansas University player Carl Henry and former coach Ted Owens in the crowd, among a smattering of crimson-and-blue faithful in a far-from-full arena.

This is the life.

“You can enjoy watching the games, because there’s no need to be nervous,” Arneson says, as Owens walks up the aisle to shake hands and say hello. “It’s just basketball, basketball, basketball.

“Today, you don’t need to get nervous. You just sit back and enjoy the next three games.”

Oh yes, that: the next three games. KU tips off Big 12 Tournament play at 11:30 a.m. today against Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, where the Jayhawks hope to continue through Saturday’s semifinals, a Sunday afternoon championship game and then hang out to watch the NCAA Selection Show and earn a No. 1 seed in the Big Dance and …

OK, enough about that.

Arneson and her sister, Eudora resident Geneva Tucker, have bigger problems. Their seats for the tournament may be great, but they found themselves sitting a row behind the Missouri Tigers.

That’s right: The team had plopped into a few rows of seats, watching the action before its own game to end the Thursday session.

“They’re just not as much fun to ridicule without Quin Snyder,” Tucker says with a whisper, her face screened by a Big 12 program.

Adds Arneson: “We haven’t developed a distaste for them yet under their new coach.”

But wait a few moments, and the true blue starts to come through.

“I guess I feel sorry for them — this year,” she says. “But it won’t take long. I still don’t like them.”

Snow No Go

Today is a snowy day. It started snowing early this morning and it just stoped a little bit ago. Finally, the sun came out (at 5 pm.... just in time for it to set). I stayed in all day today. Too cold and slippery for little me. So, I was bored. Hmmm, nothing to do? Might as well poo! Yep, I blew through (literally) 3 - count that - 3 onesies! Yeeks! It's a record. I'm including some pics - me during the act, me during clean up time, and one of my onesie victims.

Warning:
A bumbo seat looks an awful lot like a potty
for a good reason
Sit in it and it's twoie season!

Me - future tennis star

Mah and Pappy read a nice article in the NY Times this weekend. It was all about how to make me a post-Soviet style tennis prodigy. I'm all for it!

Here is a picture of some kids at the Spartak Tennis Academy outside Moscow. Hmmmm..... which of these kids do I identify with? Take a guess....... (it's the especially tall girl on the right!)

Black (nosed) bears...

In addition to rabid raccons and the stray coyote or turkey in Manhattan, we have more wildlife in the city. It appears that one of New Jersey's controversial black bears has escaped the hunt and taken refuge in Park Slope. Just kidding! It's me! My nose is black because the dye from Mah's scarf rubbed off on me. It is soooooo cold out that I had my little nosey buried in Mah's scarf to keep nosey from freezing off!

Today was a baby lunch day. Yay! It's always good to see all my baby friends. Rebecca, Isabella, Madeline, and Anabelle joined me. It was an all girl day. (We missed Max though)

Maxwell is a boy
the only boy I know of
except for Pappy

I know you've been waiting.....

So, I assume that you all have been wondering where I've been... well, don't blame me... the goofy website's been down. Oops! But, don't worry... I'm BACK! I've been busy lately. Ummm... I'm sitting up on my own for about 5 seconds at a time, I've been eating lots and lots of cereal, I can stand up when Mah holds my hands, I've written a cantata and published my first novel. Busy busy busy.

Golly, it was nice and warm this weekend. I took a super-nice walk in the park. But, today... cold and snowy. BTW, I LOVE to click the mouse on this laptop. I love to click it just like I like to push the keys on the big piano and my little piano. Yay!
Back to the weather.... I am getting ready for the warm weather though. Mah and our friends Aura and Baby Annabelle walked to Old Navy today to window shop. Mah took a pic of me checking out some summer shades. Fun!

"My future's so bright
I outta wear shades".
So goes the song
from long-ago days.
Back in the time
of dear Pappy's youth,
before I was born
or getting a tooth.

Hey! I'm NO EWOK!

So, Mah and Pappy have finally lost it. (well, they actuallly lost it long ago but...) They are laboring under the impression that I am no longer a baby but an Ewok. Their descent into nerdom both amuses and frightens me.

Some day I'll win an Oscar
for the most talented baby of all.
But currently there is no category
that can begin to take in all
the talented, lovely things I do
especially when I make a poo.
It smells like cookies.
If you like cookies that smell like poo.

Girls gone wild!

Ooooweee. I had a wild night last night. Mah and Pappy took me to Manhattan to see Cousin Sean. He was in town visiting magazines. During dinner I started to cry. Normally I'll nurse and feel better but NOT THIS TIME! I couldn't stop crying. I cried and cried and wailed and wailed. I just was a mess. It appears other bald girls have had rough times lately too.

BTW, Once I got home, I was just fine.

We are girls gone wild.
Britney and Louise party.
Then we regret it.

Swaddle me please!

Oh, I sure did sleep well last night. I was swaddled up nice and snug, just like I like it. What does that wacky Dr. know anyway? Mah can just make me a giant swaddle blanket when I outgrow this one. Remember this picture of me when I was a tiny baby?

There once was a Brooklyn baby
who (unlike raccoons with rabies)
liked to sleep all night
swaddled up tight.
That little papoose of a baby.

Sunny day

Today was a super sunnny day. Mah took me out for a nice long stroll. We saw our friends Margaret, Emily, and Baby Henry at the playground. It might snow tomorrow.

Even little me
feels the hurried press of days.
Tomorrow brings snow.

So... I've been visiting friends out on Long Island

Hmmm.... at least they haven't caught me yet!

Rabid raccoon found in Nassau

A raccoon found earlier this month in Kings Point has been confirmed as the first case this year of rabies in a raccoon in Nassau County, county health officials said Wednesday.

The animal was found on Feb. 6 and sent to a state health department rabies laboratory in western New York for testing, county health department spokeswoman Cynthia Brown said.

"We test and collect over 500 animals a year -- opossums, bats, raccoons -- that are acting strangely," she said.

Last year 17 raccoons were found to be rabid in Nassau County; overall 64 have been found there since August of 2004, according to the county health department.

In Suffolk, a dead raccoon spotted in Lloyd Harbor last month was found to have rabies; it was the sixth such case in Suffolk since last March.

Nassau health officials cautioned residents not to approach or try to capture wild animals or cats and dogs that are acting strangely.

If you are bitten, scratched or have had other contact with such animals, seek medical attention immediately and contact the department of health.

To report a dead or strange-acting raccoon to the Nassau County health department, call 516-571-2290 on weekdays or 516-742-6154 on nights, weekends and holidays.

My friend, Mr. Pig

Today I emailed my friend Chia-Chien. I wanted her to clear up some mysteries surrounding this Lunar New Year. Here is our correspondence:

Dear Chia Chien,

Tell your pig-man friend a "Happy Lunar New Year" from me. I want to
know, what is the difference between a regular year of the pig and
a year of the GOLDEN pig??? I am a baby and I have no idea. Does this
mean that the pig-man will be especially lucky in taking out my
Pappy's intestines this year?

Do you like my good luck scroll?

Peace out,
Baby Louise

Dear Louise,
To answer your Piggy questions…..
There is no difference between regular year of pig and golden year of pig.. haha..
You and your family will be very lucky for whole Piggy year. Because Mr. Pig will protect you!

Louise, I love your good luck scroll! You look so cute on the Picture. I guess you really love that blue chair, you always take pic on that chair.
hehe… I have your picture now…. you will be one of Mr. Pig’s best friend soon…

Happy New Year!
CC/ Mr. Pig

Rice is nice (but not Condi)

So, guess what I tried for the first time this weekend???? Rice cereal! Yeah, now I finally get to eat food with the big people. After drooling over Mah and Pappy's dim sum this weekend they finally relented and fed me some food. I tried my first bite of cereal on Sunday and I LOVED it! I am now eating cereal and drinking from my special cuppy when Mah and Pappy eat meals. I feel so special and big.

Hey, Mah says the weather is going to be warmer today. All the way up in the 40's. Woohoo-goo! A perfect day for lunch out with my baby friends. Yeah, it's warming up... just like the '08 Presidential race. Hmmm.... I'm basing my support on one question - "Who will be the best President for babies?". Obama definitely has the easiest name to say...BaMa. But, I do like Edwards' universal healthcare proposals. Goo.

The wind smells of Spring
and I keep on eating.
Bird songs it will bring
and still I keep on eating.
Winter's cold is fleeting
and I am growing larger.
Just like my New Year's greeting,
I will grow longer, taller.
I'll grow bigger and wiser.
